Bridging Finland and Miami: Nordic Leadership, Innovation, and Global Collaboration in Focus
During a two-day activation in Miami, our Founder Tarja Stephens had the honor of meeting Her Excellency Leena-Kaisa Mikkola, Embassy of Finland in the U.S., as she engaged with business and community leaders, students, and organizations. The visit brought together conversations on Nordic leadership, democratic resilience, global collaboration, and Finland’s role in advancing innovation across multiple sectors.
Tarja attended the discussion, “Finland in Focus: Insights from the World’s Freest Democracy at NATO’s Northern Border,” hosted by the World Affairs Council of Miami at Miami Dade College and moderated by Aaron Rosen, President and Founder of the Council. The dialogue highlighted Finland’s unique approach to trust and governance, the role of democracies in times of global uncertainty, and Finland’s internationally recognized media and digital literacy model, an example of resilience and civic strength in the information age. The conversation also opened space for insights on the future of cruise ships, advanced technologies, and the growing opportunities for collaboration between Finland and Miami.

Key themes included:
- Finland’s unique approach to trust and governance.
- The role of democracies in times of global uncertainty.
- Finland’s internationally recognized media and digital literacy model, an example of resilience and civic strength in the information age.
- Discussions on the future of cruise ships, advanced technologies, and collaboration between Finland and Miami.
As part of the two-day program, Tarja also had the honor of meeting Finnish leaders during the Ambassador’s visit, exchanging ideas on Finland’s leadership in the maritime industry, the future of cruise ships, and advanced technologies that continue to define Finland’s global reputation for excellence. The gathering at The Wolfsonian–FIU, which featured an inspiring exhibition of Finnish books and design, offered a beautiful reflection of Finland’s cultural treasures and its commitment to creativity, innovation, and global connection.
As a global leadership community representing many Nordic leaders, we are proud to see dialogues like this taking place, bridging cultures and shared values around Nordic leadership, trust-based governance, and international collaboration. A heartfelt thank you to all the organizers and partners for making this meaningful activation possible, and to Hannakaisa Andersson and Ulla Lainio for their leadership in building new opportunities for collaboration.
