In leadership today, time feels like it is moving faster than ever. Days blur, and one week can feel like two. The pressure to stay at high energy from morning to night has become constant for many of us.
That is why I have started to look more closely at my own energy, and discovered that it goes far deeper than simply “feeling energized.”
Energy is the invisible force behind everything we do as leaders. It also how people feel around us.
Nature has been my best teacher in this. One of my favorite ways to start a weekend is with a sunrise walk. Nature has been my best teacher, those quiet moments remind me where my energy truly is.
Over time, I have learned that sustaining energy in leadership comes down to small, intentional steps:
1️⃣ Emotional Check
At the start and end of the day, I ask: do I feel uplifted or drained?
Consistently low energy is my signal to pause and make changes.
2️⃣ Mastering my energy
I save my highest-energy moments for creative and meaningful work.
These are the moments where I can add the most value.
3️⃣ Collective energy
Being with people who are fully present brings a beautiful collective energy into the conversation. Positive energy is contagious, and I treasure it whenever I feel it.

As AI becomes more integrated into our lives, I have come to value what I call “invisible intelligence”, the energy within us that cannot be automated, yet can become one of our greatest superpowers in leadership.
This is the energy that empowers and connects us.
So I will leave you with a question: What restores your energy the most? 🌿
Best, Tarja
