Article by Tarja Stephens, Founder of Leaders of the Future
I’m honored to be featured in Suomen Ekonomit, one of Finland’s leading business and economics magazines, in their AI edition, where my interview connects perspectives from the United States and Finland. With over 55,000 members and a readership of 60,000 professionals and students, Suomen Ekonomit has long shaped Finland’s national conversation on leadership and the future of business.

Bridging Two Worlds
In the interview, I explore how U.S. business leaders are navigating the change management demanded by AI’s rapid development, and how Finland’s culture of trust, responsibility, and design-driven thinking offers a powerful model for human-centric transformation.
After more than two decades in Miami, my Finnish roots continue to shape how I see the future. Together, these perspectives remind me that AI has no borders, it touches us all.
Across Europe and the United States, I have met with leaders redefining what responsible AI adoption looks like in practice. With CEOs and executive teams, our focus is on the people side of transformation: integrating AI into daily leadership and decision-making and creating human-AI workflows that bring every voice along.
Collaboration as the New Leadership
Collaboration is emerging as the new leadership, one that bridges cultures and worldviews. In Miami, where over $2 billion in tech investment is fueling rapid innovation, leaders build quickly and learn by doing. The U.S. culture of ambition and experimentation accelerates progress.
Finland, meanwhile, offers its own distinct strengths: trust and the ability to build genuine collaboration at scale.

Together, Miami’s entrepreneurial energy and Finland’s disciplined design thinking form a powerful bridge between continents, a bridge where strategy becomes daily practice:
- Small AI pilots evolve into scaled programs.
- Targeted training expands into company-wide upskilling.
- Vision translates into execution.
The Power of Bridges
Being featured in Suomen Ekonomit offered a moment to reflect on how these two worlds, Finland and the United States, have shaped who I am as a leader. The Finnish foundation of trust and responsibility meets the entrepreneurial drive of Miami.
Bridges matter, between countries and between people.
AI knows no borders, and that’s why building bridges and fostering dialogue between leaders around the world matters now more than ever.
This synthesis has become the foundation of my work: helping executives lead AI transformation in ways that keep people at the center. Above all, the real work of leadership today is bridge-building, between continents, between technology and humanity, and between imagination and execution.
Bridges matter, between countries and between people. AI does not know borders, and that is why building bridges and connections between leaders around the world matters now more than ever.
Looking Ahead
I look forward to continuing the dialogue on how Finland and the United States can together model the kind of responsible, people-first AI leadership the world urgently needs.
Each week I share reflections that shine a light on the themes and leaders shaping what comes next, the future we are creating together. If this resonates, join the conversation and follow our journey at Leaders of the Future.
